[THERE WE GO !!!][Monday 24 June 2002] posted
by Psyguy
Ok, the new website is up and running although not complete. So head there now as I will post news on our new website. This is the last news on this website.
Welcome to the new website : http://www.lasthopemod.com/
[New nice forum][Monday 24 June 2002] posted
by Psyguy
Well, re-organization process as ended. We are now progressing in the project and since most of us are in their vacation, some stuff is progressing quickly.
Since this website is broken (I can't upload pics) and the new website isn't ready (we are late in the schedule) go to our new forum to get some updates and screenshots of our work : http://209.51.159.71/dboard/
You are welcome there, go hang out with us, post suggestions, talk about x-com or anything else. One of our objective is building a strong community around the x-com theme.
The new website is on the way, plz be patient :)p
I'll make a very big post about our progress when the new website will be online.
[Some news][Friday 14 June 2002] posted
by Psyguy
I'm sorry for the lack of news but we are working hard to get the project back to life :)
We have a couple of new team members but I'll talk about them on our new website when it will be online. I regret to announce that Freak, one of our good mappers, has left the project because of lack of freetime. We understand but we will regret you Freak :(
The new website is on its way, thx to salvatore bonavita, one of our new team members. He's the HTML/PHP layout designer of our new website. Maniac is working on the FLASH version. The address will be http://www.lasthope.com. Thx to salvatore to give us the server for free se we just have to pay for the domain name.
I'll post a redirect here when the website will be completed.
Now we need some talent, mainly because I failed to contact some of our original mappers and 2D artists. So we really need more talented mappers and texture makers. If you got skills in that or anything else, we are employing :)p Just e-mail me at psyguy@videotron.ca and send me some samples of any work you had done in the past to show me your skills. Thx.
[X-COM LAST HOPE IS BACK !!!][Friday 7 June 2002] posted
by Psyguy
Ok its official, we got most of the x-com team back in the project, and the most important guys are ready to work (almost).
We got some new people that also want to get in the team so we may get bigger even if we don't get everybody from the original team.
Spread the word everyone, we are survivors, we aren't dead yet, we still got a x-com mod to make :)
For the news : We are slowly recovering from the death. Re-organisation will take some time. To help that, you can contact me on
ICQ : 70826304
MSN : psyguy2002@hotmail.com
E-MAIL : psyguy@videotron.ca (this one is the best way to get in touch with me)
AND on mIRC of course, on our old lasthope channel. I created it again. Its on gamesnet server (Check in the menu bar).
Although you can contact me on these, I wont be online that often because I'm currently working at fulltime so I'm very busy.
I'm trying to find another job to have a bit of more freetime.
Another thing to fix is our website. One thing is sure, we are moving :) The webmaster, Maniac, is currently working on a new website and we will change our
host because we can't use the FTP feature anymore with FreeServers.
Thats it for now.
[THE PROJECT MAY RESTART][Tuesday 4 June 2002] posted
by Psyguy
Finally after one year, there is a big chance the project may get
back to life. This is not official at the moment but keep your
eyes on our website for further updates very soon, I promess.
Many may ask why I waited so long to update the website, well
thats because we lost control over the ftp of our website. We
still got an ftp problem and we are currently trying to fix it. Beside, the mod
was dead and I didn't feel like posting a dead news but I should have done it.
I apologize. Even now, I'm posting this news with our host main editor, that was
the only way I could post something here. For now, I concentrate my work on
getting access to our ftp and contacting the team. Expect slow progress because
I don't have much time to work on the project and that was a reason why it died.
But I realized that maybe the project will progress slower now but its better
than nothing :)
My webmaster is working on a new website already. I'll post news very soon, to
make confirmation if the project is truly starting up again. Thx.
[Infograme news][Tuesday 5 June 2001] posted
by Psyguy
We received a letter from the vice-president of Infograme it-self,
Evan Gsell. And he was speaking in a friendly positive manner as
Jazza told me. This is looking good so far. Keep fingers crossed
:)

Hahaha, this may seem crazyyyyy. Still waiting for the other Infogrames
e-mail to have confirmation of the permission to opening up the
project again.

and sign our petition. The objective is to convince Infograme to
let us continue.
Thx !

There is much work from Nod these days :) Here is some previews
of the interceptor and the HWP cannon model. They are still in refining
state and are unskinned.
[Unskinned skyranger model][Sunday 29 April 2001]
posted
by Psyguy
Here is some previews of the skyranger model Nod is working on.
It is unskinned and it is not sure that we will use it in multiplayer
map. But its looking very good anyway, and we could always use it
in our singleplayer version. By the way, the tank you see in the
skyranger is also in development.
Also, animating on the sectoid model has begun. I got our first
animation on it (walking animation) and I was very excited to see
that it was very good.
We welcome a new member on the XCOM LH team : Manic, an animator.
He is working on the sectoid model right now.
[Plasma pistol, Sectoid model][Friday 27 April 2001]
posted
by Psyguy
Here is a picture that shows some of Ninja's progress on the plasma
pistol.
Also, Nod is still working on some models for mapping purpose.
Our .wad file have grow up again today, as Jazza have finished more
UFO textures. Animation should begin on the sectoid model soon.
For now, have a look at what the model look in-game (isin't he cute?)

[Nod's work][Wednesday 25 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
As I said Monday, Nod is working on many models that will be use
in maps. Here are some screenshots.
The small alien scout :

Implementation : (PS : Yes, what you see in the hands is the rocket
launcher but these hands and the skin on the rocket launcher are
in development state, these are just been implemented for testing
purpose).

I'll post some other pictures of Nod's work in the next days. Neale
(director of the programing department) is currently working on
a .fgd file for mappers. Ninja is still working on his plasma pistol
and I'll post a picture of what he made so far.
[Message board, Nod's work][Monday 23 April 2001]

be shy to drop us your ideas, comments, anything. You dont need
to register to post a message and answers are garantid.
Nod have been working on many models these days. He finished the
hand model and the small alien scout model. Wednesday I'll post

posted
by Psyguy
You probably heard of the other x-com mod, x-com end of days. Go
check them out !
[IRC channel][Thursday 19 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
Leech just set up an IRC channel for us. Because we got members
from all over the world on this project, this channel will be rarely
empty. Come and drop us your ideas :)
Server : irc.gamesnet.net
Channel : #lasthope
Also : the model and map page have been updated with recent pictures.
Nod finished the hand model but it need more work on the skin itself
before we can begin animation on weapons. Ninja is working on the
plasma pistol model, Lord Danil started the small launcher model
and Blaz is still working on the pistol and rifle model. Burgess
is still working on the laser rifle. We should have pictures to
show soon. Thats it for weapon news.
[Sectoid model][Tuesday 17 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
Our incredible model maker, Nod, finished an other model : The
sectoid model. He had already made this model but the original model
needed some more work on it and now it look better than ever !!!

Nod also started our hand model for the x-com side. Lord Danil
is too occupied to do them for now. Animation on the sectoid will
begin soon.
[Chryssalid model][Sunday 15 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
Here is the chryssalid model I talked a week ago. The model and
skin, made by the talented model maker : Nod, are completely finished.
We can now start animation on this model.

Also, Telefragged accepted to host us so we are beginning to think
about moving on this server because Telefragged is renowned to be
a good host and we will have unlimited space so this will give us
much more freedom than our actual server. Maniac also want to redesign
our website so when he will be done with that, we will move to Telefragged.
[New member, weapon implantation][Friday 13 April 2001]
posted
by Psyguy
Welcome to Jazza from Australia, a new 2D artist in our team. Our
texture library is beginning to grow slowly but surely.
Today is a great day as we have, for the first time, implanted
one of our weapon model in Half-Life : the rocket launcher from
Lord Danil. Of course it needs many fixes and we are still waiting
after the hand model but it was pretty exciting anyway.
[Alien base map][Wednesday 11 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
Elvis made some progress on his map : alien base. He ended up with
an impressive alien hangar that we didn't see in the original game
but it looks pretty x-com anyway. Dont forget Elvis work without
the official textures too.
Hangar : fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffSmall
alien scout ready to go :
[Website][Monday 9 April 2001] posted
by Psyguy
The concept page has been updated with
the concept of the single player version of our mod. This page is
still in development.
We welcome a new member today : Leech. He will work with us as
a webmaster assistant.
We finally have a very nice title banner for our website. This
is a creation of DrippieTH which by the way, got a website about
you know what? X-COM games !!!! Go check it out at http://www.llamalicious.com/xcom/
[Chryssalid, 2D artist][Saturday 7 April 2001]
posted
by Psyguy
The chryssalid model (by Nod) is in final development. The model
is finished and the skin is almost finished. Nod sent me a picture
of the skinned model and it looks fantastic !! It looks very close
to the original one which is our objective. As soon as the model
is completed, I will post a picture of it here.
Stressful time for the whole team these days as we are waiting
for the answer of Infogrames (the company that presently own x-com
copyrights). There is a good chance that they do not give us the
authorization so we will need to change our name and alter the game
a bit by changing the name of some weapons and aliens.
We are still in need of 2D artists. If you got some talent in that
and would like to help us, e-mail
me.
